Bodywork & reiki FAQ

what should i expect in a manual lymphatic drainage session?

The session requires that the client be fully disrobed, but the body will remain draped with a sheet throughout the session, with the only areas being exposed being those receiving treatment. Manual Lymphatic Drainage does include work in the chest area, including over breast tissue, so we will discuss this prior to your session to ensure you are comfortable with receiving this work. Please do not eat at least 1.5 hours before the session as every session includes abdominal work and deep diaphragmatic breathing. Please do your best to use the bathroom before the session and be sure to drink a lot of water after the session. Please refrain from consuming alcohol the day of your session (before or after).

what should i expect in my first reiki session?

Reiki is universal life energy that works to address physical and emotional imbalances. The practitioners hands may be placed on or just above your body. You may feel a warming or tingling session. Emotions that need to be released may arise. You may also experience spiritual breakthroughs that include visualization. More on this will be discussed at the beginning of your session. If you opt to add crystal healing to your reiki session, a personalized set of crystals will be used according to your treatment goals.

What length of session should i book?

For bodywork sessions, it is strongly advised to book a 90-minute session to receive a thorough treatment that doesn’t feel rushed. Two hour sessions allow for more dialogue, integration, and processing. If you are truly rushed with time, 75 minutes still allows for meaningful work. Modalities that are primarily energetic can be booked as 60-minute sessions, since I find this provides sufficient time for a complete session.

For reiki sessions, you may book anywhere from a 45-90 minute session. It is recommended to start with a 60-minute session to allow for processing, grounding, and reintegration before you leave the center. Please note that your scheduled session will provide 45-120 minutes of actual hands-on work. Please plan for up to an additional 15-30 minutes for an initial intake, bathroom breaks, getting settled and on and off the table, reassessment, and payment at the end of your appointment.

facials FAQ

what should i do before my appointment?

Avoid prolonged sun exposure prior to a treatment. Avoid exfoliation the day before, during or after a facial service. Additionally, avoid being waxed or sugared for at least one week before getting a facial. Please stop all topical Vitamin C and Retinols on the face, neck, and chest areas at least a week prior to your appointment. It is helpful if you come to your appointment with no make-up on, but we will be cleansing the skin either way, so it’s not a big deal if you arrive with make-up on.

what should i do after my appointment?

You may feel sensitivity after your service if we did a lot of extractions or a lot of exfoliation. We recommend you avoid sun exposure the day of your facial and ideally over the first 1-2 weeks following your facial. Do not use any products with hydroxyl acids and/or exfoliate in any way for at least 24 to 48 hours. It is recommended that you don’t do anything that would cause you to sweat a lot after your facial (avoid saunas, working out, hot yoga, etc). Make sure to drink a lot of water and take it easy for the rest of the day as your skin and nervous system integrate post-service.

GENERAL FAQ

how early should I arrive?

Arriving at your scheduled time is preferred. You may also arrive about 5 minutes before your scheduled session. Because sessions are appointment-only, I may not be in the office if you arrive early. If you need to use the bathroom, I can provide a key once we meet for your scheduled session.

where can I park?

There is an abundant amount of parking available in front of our office suite. You may park anywhere within the complex, which lies parallel to Manchester Ave. and perpendicular to Encinitas Blvd.

How do I find RMW once I arrive?

  • Take the elevator or walk up the stairs to find Suite 204. The bathroom is across the hall. Please wash your hands or sanitize shortly after arriving to our suite.

  • Call or text 760-487-8687 when you arrive. If the front door is locked, please wait outside until I get to the front door and can let you into our larger office suite. If the door is unlocked, feel free to enter the larger suite and go to the room on the far left, room 2. If you are early, please sit in the waiting area before knocking on the door of room 2.

what forms of payment do you take?

Cash is preferred. Venmo, PayPal, and credit cards are also accepted. You may complete payment in person or by using our Vagaro booking software (available on a mobile application, although you can access the software using your mobile browser or computer browser).

how much should I tip?

Please note that a lot of physical and emotional energy goes into providing a complete and integrated wellness session. Tips are very much appreciated. The suggested amount is 15%-20% of the session price. However, please not that our pricing reflects the fact that not everyone can afford to tip or some see the service as more transactional in nature. There is no shaming based on whether or not or how much you choose to tip.

what if i need to cancel my appointment?

A 24-hour cancellation is required. Less than a 24-hour cancellation will result in a 50% charge. No shows will result in a 100% charge of the booked service(s). Emergencies happen - so this may be waived at the practitioner’s discretion.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS DO YOU TAKE REGARDING COVID-19?

Masks are optional for the client and practitioner, and are therefore not required. The client may wear a mask if they prefer and they may also request that the practitioner wear a mask if that is their preference as well. The owner and sole proprietor (Destiny) is fully vaccinated (two-shots) and boosted with Moderna.

Sanitization/disinfection occurs between each client in accordance with CDC guidelines.
