Manual lymphatic drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

MLD is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid. We offer the Vodder MLD technique, which has grown to be the most well known medically supported manual technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of tissues.

MLD is specifically focused on the lymph vessels to help the flow of lymphatic fluid, which is especially helpful for those experiencing edema (swelling), although there are a number of indications for MLD (highlighted further below).

Deep breathing techniques call diaphragmatic breathing help open the deep lymphatic pathways. It’s not only relaxing, but it also helps increase movement of fluid toward the heart[3].

CUPPING & GUA SHA

Treatment Enhancements —

For those who desire something beyond light touch work, we offer cupping and gua sha to help alleviate soft-tissue tension/pain and provide provide increased circulation and detoxification effects. All of these add-ons include warming of the tissue with moderate pressure and final effleurage to integrate the work. These sessions are best booked as add-ons to manual lymphatic drainage sessions because the client will already be appropriately draped for this work.

Cupping — Cupping stimulates circulation, the flow of qi, and may relieve muscle tension. Cupping also helps decompress stuck connective tissue, thus easing tension and associated discomfort.

Gua Sha — A natural therapy based on the principals of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gua Sha stimulates circulation, alleviates musculoskeletal tension/pain, and can be used to stimulate specific acupressure points, depending on your individual needs. In more recent times, this modality has been also been referred to as scraping and IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation).
